Peter Brown is a super talented American writer and illustrator. He's famous for creating amazing picture books for kids! You might know his work from books like Creepy Carrots! or The Wild Robot. About Peter Brown
His Journey as an Artist
Peter Brown grew up in Hopewell, New Jersey. He loved art and went to the ArtCenter College of Design to study illustration. After finishing college, he moved to New York City in 2002. This helped him be closer to where books are published.
He was working on animated TV shows when he got a book deal. This was to write and illustrate his very first picture book, Flight of the Dodo. Soon after, he signed up for his second and third books. That's how his exciting career as a children's author and illustrator began!
Since then, Peter Brown has written and illustrated many popular books. He has won lots of awards for his work. These include a Caldecott Honor, a Horn Book Award, and two E.B. White Awards. He also won a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year. Many of his books, like The Wild Robot series, have become New York Times bestsellers!

Peter Brown's books are very popular. Many of them have been chosen as Junior Library Guild books. These include You Will Be My Friend! (2011), My Teacher Is a Monster! (2014), The Wild Robot (2016), and The Wild Robot Escapes (2018).

- The Curious Garden won the NAIBA Books of the Year for Picture Book in 2009. It also won the Children's Choice Book Award: Illustrator of the Year and the E. B. White Read Aloud Award for Picture Book in 2010. In 2011, it won the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video.
- Children Make Terrible Pets won the E. B. White Read Aloud Award for Picture Book and the NAIBA Books of the Year for Picture Book in 2011. It also won the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video in 2012.
- You Will Be My Friend! won the Irma Black Award in 2012.
- Mr. Tiger Goes Wild won the Cybils Award for Fiction Picture Book in 2013. In 2014, it won the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award for Picture Book, the Bull-Bransom Award, the Golden Kite Award for Picture Book Illustration, and the NAIBA Books of the Year for Picture Book.
- The Wild Robot Escapes won the ORCA Award for Upper Elementary in 2019.
