Early Life and Schooling

Peter Charles Harris was born on November 10, 1865, in Ringston, Georgia. He attended the United States Military Academy, often called West Point. He finished his studies and graduated from West Point in 1888.

Military Career Highlights

After graduating, Peter Harris became an officer in the U.S. Army. He joined the 13th Infantry Regiment. He also served with other infantry regiments, including the 9th, 10th, and 24th.

Service in the Spanish-American War

During the Spanish–American War, he took part in important battles. He was involved in the Battle of San Juan Hill. He also helped during the Siege of Santiago de Cuba. These were key events in the war.

Time in the Philippines

Harris spent several years serving in the Philippines. He was there from 1899 to 1900. He returned for another period from 1905 to 1907. His final time in the Philippines was from May 1907 to April 1908.

Further Military Education

He continued to improve his military skills and knowledge. He attended the Infantry and Cavalry School at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Later, he graduated from the Army War College in 1908. This college trains senior military leaders.
