After he stopped playing, Peter continued to work with Rapid Wien as a coach for their amateur teams until 2006. Later, in 2007, he became a coach for Wiener Sport-Club. As a special tribute to his playing career, Rapid Wien decided to retire his squad number, 5, until the 2011 season.
