Peter Sirr was born in Waterford in 1960. When he was a child, his family moved to Dublin. He studied at Trinity College Dublin, a famous university.
Early Achievements
Peter Sirr started winning awards for his poetry early on. In 1982, he won the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award. The next year, in 1983, he won a poetry prize at Listowel Writers' Week. These awards helped show how talented he was.
Life and Work
For many years, Peter Sirr spent time living in Ireland, Italy, and Holland. Now, he has settled back in Dublin. He was the director of the Irish Writers' Centre from 1991 to 2002.
