Peter Weck (born August 12, 1930) is a famous Austrian film director and actor. He has been involved in many movies and TV shows since 1954. Besides acting in over 130 films and TV productions, he has also directed more than 50 projects. He is well-known for his work both in front of and behind the camera.
Biography
Peter Weck studied acting in Vienna, Austria. He started his film career in 1954. One of his early roles was in the movie Sissi (1955). In this film, he played Karl Ludwig of Austria. Peter Weck often played funny or romantic characters in lighthearted movies.
He also appeared in some international films. For example, he was a choir conductor in Almost Angels (1962). He also played Romy Schneider's husband in The Cardinal (1963). In the 1980s, Weck had a main role in the German TV show Ich heirate eine Familie (which means I Marry a Family). He played the father of the family.
Peter Weck also started working as a director in the 1960s. His first directing job was for the comedy film Help, I Love Twins. He directed many films and TV shows, including his own sitcom Ich heirate eine Familie. He also directed some episodes of the crime series Tatort.
He was also a successful stage director. He worked for several theaters in Vienna. He helped start an organization called Vereinigte Bühnen Wien in 1987. As a theater manager in Vienna during the 1980s, he helped bring famous musicals to Germany. These included Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and The Phantom of the Opera. He also produced the first show of the musical Elisabeth in 1992.
