Peter Weck, born on August 12, 1930, is a famous Austrian film director and actor. He has been involved in many movies and TV shows for a very long time. From 1954 to 2015, he acted in about 130 films and TV programs. He also directed over 50 productions between 1969 and 2007.

Early Life and Acting Career

Peter Weck learned acting at important schools in Vienna, Austria. He first appeared in a movie in 1954. One of his early famous roles was in the historical movie Sissi in 1955. In this film, he played Karl Ludwig of Austria alongside Romy Schneider.

He often played funny and romantic characters in lighthearted movies. Peter Weck also worked on international films. For example, he was a choir conductor in the music film Almost Angels (1962). He also acted with Romy Schneider again in the drama The Cardinal (1963). In the 1980s, he became well-known for playing the father in the German TV show Ich heirate eine Familie (which means "I Marry a Family").

Directing and Stage Work

Peter Weck started directing movies and TV shows in the late 1960s. His first comedy film as a director was Help, I Love Twins. He directed many episodes of his own popular TV series, Ich heirate eine Familie. He also directed some episodes of the crime show Tatort.

Besides film and TV, Peter Weck was also a successful stage director. He helped create an organization called Vereinigte Bühnen Wien in 1987. This group manages several theaters in Vienna. As a Theater manager in the 1980s, he brought famous musicals to German-speaking audiences. These included Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and The Phantom of the Opera. He also produced the first show of the musical Elisabeth in 1992.
