About the River's Path

The Petite rivière Bédard starts from a small, unnamed lake in the town of Larouche. This lake is about 181 meters (594 feet) above sea level.

From its source, the river flows for about 7.9 kilometers (4.9 miles). It drops about 21 meters (69 feet) in height along its path. The upper part of the river flows through forests. The lower part flows through farming areas.

The river generally flows northwest. It makes a curve towards the south at one point. Then it turns west, and finally northwest again before reaching its end.

The Petite rivière Bédard joins the Bédard River on its south bank. This meeting point is in a farming area.

After joining the Bédard River, the water flows into the Saguenay River. The Saguenay River then carries the water about 139 kilometers (86 miles) east to Tadoussac. There, it joins the Saint Lawrence estuary.
