The Philadelphia Auto Show is a really cool event that happens every year in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's also known as the Philadelphia International Auto Show. This big show takes place in late January and early February at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. It's a chance to see hundreds of amazing cars all in one place! For example, the 2020 show was held from February 8-17.

History of the Auto Show

The very first Philadelphia Auto Show happened way back in 1902. That's over 120 years ago! Today, the show is put together by a group called the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia. In the past, it used to be held at the old Philadelphia Convention Hall and Civic Center in University City.

What You'll See at the Show

The Philadelphia Auto Show is a huge event. It fills up all 700,000 square feet of the Pennsylvania Convention Center! Each year, more than 250,000 people come to visit. Many people who buy new cars in the area say that the show helped them decide what to get.

You can see over 700 different vehicles at the show. This includes brand new cars making their first appearance. You'll also find "concept" cars, which are special designs that show what future cars might look like. There are also super fancy "exotic" cars, custom-made "tuners," and even really old "antique" cars. It's a great place to explore the world of automobiles!

The Black Tie Gala

Before the main auto show opens to everyone, there's a special party called the Black Tie Tailgate Preview Gala. It happens on the Friday night right before the show starts. People who buy tickets to this fancy event are helping a great cause. All the money from ticket sales goes to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP). This is done through the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. This foundation helps fund programs and causes for children all over the Philadelphia area. For example, the 2020 Black Tie Tailgate was held on February 7.
