Philip Anthony Blake (born in Toronto, Canada, on November 27, 1985) is a professional football player. He plays as an offensive lineman. This means he helps protect his team's quarterback and blocks for running plays. Philip currently plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also played college football for the Baylor Bears. Over his career, he has been part of several teams, including the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Montreal Alouettes, and Toronto Argonauts.

College Football Journey
Philip Blake started his college football career at Tyler Junior College in 2008. The next year, in 2009, he moved to Baylor University. During his three years at Baylor, he was a key player. He started every game, playing in 38 matches. He played in important positions like center or right tackle. In his final year as a senior, he was recognized as an All-Big 12 player. This award goes to the best players in the Big 12 conference.
Starting His Pro Career
Philip was first chosen by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2011 CFL Draft. However, he decided to stay at Baylor for another year. After that, he was drafted into the NFL. The Denver Broncos picked him in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft. This was a big step for his professional career.
Time with the Denver Broncos
After being drafted, Philip Blake signed with the Denver Broncos on June 1, 2012. While he was part of the team, he did not play in any regular season games. He was released by the Broncos on August 31, 2013.
Playing for the Arizona Cardinals
Soon after leaving the Broncos, Philip joined the Arizona Cardinals. He signed with their practice squad on September 2, 2013. A practice squad is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster. He stayed with the Cardinals until August 30, 2014, when he was released.
Joining the Montreal Alouettes
After a year away from football, Philip Blake returned to the CFL. He signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Alouettes on January 8, 2015. This marked his official start in the Canadian Football League.
First Time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders
On October 10, 2018, Philip Blake was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He moved to the Roughriders along with his teammate Patrick Lavoie. In exchange, the Alouettes received another player and a draft pick.
Winning with the Toronto Argonauts
On February 11, 2020, Philip signed with the Toronto Argonauts. He didn't play in 2020 because the CFL season was cancelled due to world events. He restructured his contract in January 2021.
In 2021, Philip played in 11 games for the Argonauts. He also played in their East Final game. In the 2022 season, he played and started in 17 regular season games. He even switched to playing left tackle late in the season to help the team with injuries.
Philip Blake started at left tackle in the 109th Grey Cup game. This was a very important game! His team, the Argonauts, won the Grey Cup championship. They defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24–23. This was Philip's first Grey Cup win. After his contract ended on February 14, 2023, he became a free agent.
Back with the Saskatchewan Roughriders
On February 14, 2023, it was announced that Philip Blake had signed a new contract. He returned to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. On January 25, 2024, the Roughriders announced that Philip had signed a one-year contract extension. This means he will continue to play for the team.
