Phylicia George, born on November 16, 1987, is an amazing Canadian athlete. She is special because she has competed in two different sports at the Olympic Games: track and field (running and jumping) and bobsleigh (racing down an icy track in a sled).

Phylicia's Sports Journey

Phylicia has shown incredible talent and dedication in both her sports. She is known for her speed and strength.

Racing Over Hurdles

Phylicia started her Olympic journey in track and field. She is a specialist in the 100-meter hurdles. This is a race where athletes run over ten barriers as fast as they can!

In 2011, she competed at the World Championships in South Korea. She made it all the way to the final race.

Her first time at the Olympic Games was in 2012. She raced in the 100-meter hurdles at the London Olympics. She finished in an impressive sixth place! She earned her spot in London by doing very well at the Canadian championships.

Phylicia also represented Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She once again reached the final in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing eighth.

Speeding Down the Bobsleigh Track

After the 2016 Summer Olympics, Phylicia decided to try a new sport: bobsleigh. This is a winter sport where teams push a sled and then jump in, sliding down a narrow, icy track at very high speeds.

She quickly became very good at bobsleigh. In December 2017, she made her first appearance in a World Cup race. She even won her first World Cup race in Germany in January 2018, racing with her teammate Kaillie Humphries.

Her hard work paid off at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Phylicia and Kaillie Humphries worked together in the two-woman bobsleigh event. They won the bronze medal, which is an amazing achievement! This made Phylicia one of the few athletes to win an Olympic medal in both summer and winter sports.
