Piehl's History
Around the year 1900, Piehl was home to a company called Gagen Land & Cedar Company. The main jobs in Piehl were farming and working with lumber. Lumber is wood that is cut and prepared for use.
Workers produced things like white cedar posts, poles, and railroad ties. These were used to build things. The owner of the Gagen Land & Cedar Company was a man named Fred Piehl. The town of Piehl was named after him.
On March 25, 1908, the town of Piehl was officially created. It was formed from parts of two other towns, Three Lakes and Monico. The picture below shows some of the lumberjacks who worked for the Gagen Land & Cedar Company.
