Gagen is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of a larger area called the town of Piehl. Gagen is found in Oneida County. It sits along County Highway C, not far from U.S. Route 45. It's about 13.5 miles (21.7 km) east of a bigger town called Rhinelander.
The Story of Gagen
Gagen began as a busy place for cutting down trees. It was once a logging camp. The area around Gagen was known as the Gagen Tract. This was one of the best places for timber in the Northwoods. It had many different kinds of trees. You could find tall pines, birches, maples, spruces, and cedars there.
A post office served the community for many years. It was open from 1895 until 1942. The community got its name from an early settler. His name was Daniel Gagen.
