Piel de Ángel (which means Skin of Angel) is the 13th music album by the famous Mexican singer and actress Lucero. It was released in 1997.
For this album, Lucero decided to try something new. She worked with Italian music producers Claudio Guidetti and Maurizio Fabrizio. They helped her create a fresh sound for her songs. Before this, she had made three albums in a row with Spanish songwriter Rafael Pérez-Botija.
Piel de Ángel came out right after Lucero's wedding to Manuel Mijares. Her wedding was a very big event in Mexico! This album was another huge success for her. It sold 600,000 copies in Mexico alone. This means it earned three gold records because of its high sales.
Gerardo Flores wrote seven of the eleven songs on the album. One special song was an adaptation of the music from the movie "Il Postino". Lucero asked for this song because her mother really loved the movie.
The first song released from the album was "Tácticas de Guerra" (War Tactics). This song quickly became number one in Mexico. It also reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart in the United States.
Another song, "Si Tú Llegaras a Amarme" (If You Would Love Me), was special. It was the winning song from a contest in Mexico for the TV show "Lazos de Amor". Lucero also starred in that TV show!
"Quiero" (I Want) was the second song released from the album. It reached number 8 in Mexico. The third song, "Toda la Noche" (All Night Long), had a music video. This video was directed by Adolfo Pérez Butrón, who took many of Lucero's album cover photos.
Some songs from Piel de Ángel were also performed live. On her second live album, Lucero En Vivo Auditorio Nacional, you can find "Historias de Amores" (Love Stories) and "Tácticas de Guerra".
