Pierre Wynants facts for kids

Pierre Wynants was born on March 5, 1939, and is a famous chef from Belgium. He was the owner and head chef of a very well-known restaurant in Brussels called Comme chez Soi.
Under his leadership, Comme chez Soi earned the highest honor in the food world: three Michelin stars. It kept these stars from 1979 until 2006, which is a long time! Michelin stars are like special awards for restaurants that serve amazing food.
A Surprising Restaurant Review
In 2004, Pierre Wynants helped create the menu for a new place called Ostend Queen. A famous food guide, the 2005 Benelux edition of the Michelin Guide, gave Ostend Queen a good review. However, there was a big surprise: the restaurant had not even opened yet when the guide was published!
This caused a lot of talk in the Belgian news, especially in a newspaper called Le Soir. Because of this, the people who make the Michelin Guide decided to take back all fifty thousand copies of the guide that had just been printed.
Passing on the Legacy
In 2007, Pierre Wynants decided to hand over the control of Comme chez Soi to his son-in-law, Lionel Rigolet. This meant that the family tradition of great cooking continued at the restaurant.
