Pig Island is a small island located in the far north of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the amazing Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This island is about 19 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Cape Grenville.
About Pig Island
Pig Island is one of the many islands that make up the Cockburn Islands group. It is a very small island, covering about 1.6 square kilometers (or 160 hectares). To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of 300 football fields!
Where is Pig Island Located?
This little island sits within the beautiful Cockburn Reef. It is north of other islands like Bootie Island, Manley Islet, and Buchen Rock. Pig Island is also very close to the Pollard Channel and the Sir Charles Hardy Islands. All these places are part of the incredible marine environment of the Great Barrier Reef.
