Pikeside is a small place in West Virginia, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county, which in this case is Berkeley County.
Where is Pikeside?
Pikeside is located in the eastern part of West Virginia. You can find it along a main road called U.S. Route 11. It's about 3.4 miles (which is about 5.5 kilometers) south of a bigger town named Martinsburg. The area is 515 feet (about 157 meters) above sea level.
How Pikeside Got Its Name
Pikeside got its name from a 'turnpike' that was once nearby. A turnpike was an old type of road where people had to pay a fee, or 'toll', to use it. This fee helped pay for the road's upkeep. The community was located "beside" this turnpike, which led to its name, Pikeside.
