María Pilar Llop Cuenca (born August 3, 1973) is a Spanish judge and politician. She served as the Minister of Justice of Spain from 2021 to 2023. Before that, she was the 61st President of the Senate of Spain. She also served as a Spanish Senator and a member of the Assembly of Madrid.

Early Life and Education
Pilar Llop was born on August 3, 1973, in Madrid, Spain. She came from a family with humble beginnings. Her father worked as a taxi driver, and her mother was a hairdresser.
She studied law at the Complutense University of Madrid. Later, she earned a master's degree in judicial translation from the University of Alicante.
Career in Law and Politics
Pilar Llop began her career in the legal field. She became a judge in 1999 and was promoted to a magistrate in 2004.
Entering Politics
In 2015, Llop joined the Spanish Socialist Worker's Party (PSOE) list for the regional election in Madrid. She became a member of the 10th term of the Assembly of Madrid.
In July 2018, she left her seat in the Assembly of Madrid. This was because she was appointed by the Spanish government as the new Government Delegate for Gender Violence. She officially started this role on July 24, 2018. In this position, she worked to protect people and ensure fairness.
Leading the Senate
Pilar Llop became the President of the Senate of Spain on December 3, 2019. The Senate is one of the two parts of Spain's national parliament. As President, she was in charge of leading the Senate's meetings and activities. She held this important role until July 8, 2021.
Minister of Justice
On July 12, 2021, Pilar Llop was appointed the Minister of Justice of Spain. In this role, she was responsible for the country's legal system. She worked to make sure laws were fair and justice was served. She served as Minister of Justice until November 21, 2023.
