Pilgrim Presbyterian Church is an old and important church building in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's located in a neighborhood called Mount Adams. This church was built a long time ago, in 1886. It has a special design style called Gothic Revival, and it's mostly made of brick. A local architect named Charles E. Iliff designed and built it.
The church has two stories and a tall bell tower right in the middle. You can also see beautiful round "rose windows" and pairs of windows on its upper floor. The whole building looks very balanced and well-designed.
A Unique Church in Mount Adams
Cincinnati had many Presbyterian churches in its early days. However, the Mount Adams neighborhood was mostly Catholic. Pilgrim Presbyterian Church was special because it was the very first Protestant church built in that area.
What Happened to the Church?
Today, the original Pilgrim Presbyterian Church group no longer meets there. The building is now owned by a different church group called Pilgrim Chapel United Church of Christ. Its name is not on the list of churches for the Cincinnati Presbytery anymore.
Historic Recognition
In 1980, the former Pilgrim Presbyterian Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This is a special list of important buildings in the United States. It was chosen for this list because of its unique and historic architecture. It also earned its spot because of its important role in the local history of Cincinnati.
