Pindarev Island is a small, flat, and rocky island. It is located in Nishava Cove, which is part of the South Shetland Islands near Antarctica.
The island is about 250 meters long and 115 meters wide. That's roughly the length of two and a half football fields! It has a total surface area of 1.9 hectares. Pindarev Island is separated from a larger island called Rugged Island by a narrow passage of water, only 35 meters wide.
In the early 1800s, people who hunted seals often visited this area. The island is named after Tenyu Pindarev (1921–2010). He was a Bulgarian cartoonist who helped promote interest in Antarctica.
