Piret Raud is a famous Estonian author and artist. She writes and illustrates amazing books, especially for children. She was born on July 15, 1971, in Tallinn, Estonia. Many of her stories are loved by kids and have been translated into different languages around the world.

About Piret Raud

Piret Raud grew up in a family of writers. Her parents, Eno Raud and Aino Pervik, were also well-known children's authors. She has two brothers, Rein Raud and Mihkel Raud, who are also writers and musicians.

Piret first studied printmaking at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She started her career in art. Later, she discovered her talent for writing and illustrating stories.

She has become one of the most famous and widely translated children's authors from Estonia. Piret Raud has written about 20 books. Her books have been translated into 14 different languages. She has also illustrated more than 50 books for other authors.

Piret Raud has also written books for older readers since 2018. She has published three novels and a collection of short stories. Her adult books have also won important awards. For example, she received the A. H. Tammsaare Literary Award in 2020. She also won the Friedebert Tuglas Short Story Award in 2022 for her story Pink (The Bench).
