Pirojpur District facts for kids
Pirojpur is a district located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Barisal Division, which is one of the administrative areas of Bangladesh. Most of the land in Pirojpur is quite low, and the soil is very good for growing crops. You can also find small forests here. The main town of Pirojpur became a municipality (a self-governing town) in 1985. Nesarabad is a well-known area in Pirojpur. It's famous for its busy markets and also for the Sundori tree. This tree is a special kind of mangrove tree that grows in the area.
What is Pirojpur District Like?
Pirojpur district is divided into smaller parts called Upazilas (which used to be known as Thanas). These include Pirojpur Sadar, Nesarabad, Mothbaria, Bhandaria, Zianagar, Nazirpur, and Kawkhali. The area was first recognized as a separate subdivision way back in 1866.
