Plainfield is a small village in Waushara County, Wisconsin, in the United States. Most of the village is located within the Town of Plainfield. A very small part extends into the nearby Town of Oasis. In 2010, about 862 people lived here.

History of Plainfield
Plainfield started as a settlement called Norwich in 1848. A man named Elijah C. Waterman planned the village in 1849. He built mills and offered free land to attract new families. Mr. Waterman later became the first postmaster. He changed the name to Plainfield, named after his hometown in Plainfield, Vermont.
Geography and Location
Plainfield is located at 44°12′42″N 89°29′34″W / 44.21167°N 89.49278°W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers an area of about 1.61 square miles (4.17 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
