Plato is a small, quiet community located in LaGrange County, Indiana. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Bloomfield Township.
A Look Back: Plato's History
Plato has a short but interesting history. Back in 1890, a post office was opened here. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages.
The post office served the community for about 11 years. It closed down in 1901. The community was probably named after the famous ancient Greek philosopher, Plato.
