During the American Civil War, which was a major conflict in the United States, Pleasant Site played a small role. A group of soldiers, known as Company B of the 27th Alabama Infantry, was formed here. They were also called the "Confederate Sentinels."
After the war, a person named Allen Haley Taylor, who was a veteran of the Confederate forces and the last one to survive in Franklin County, was buried in Pleasant Site. This shows the community's connection to that important time in American history.
