Plenty is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is about 21 kilometers (13 miles) northeast of Melbourne's city center. Plenty is part of the Shire of Nillumbik local government area. In 2021, about 2,575 people lived there.
Plenty is a quiet, semi-rural area. It has many large properties, often several acres big. While new houses are being built near Greensborough, much of Plenty remains untouched. This is because it's part of a 'green wedge' area, which helps protect natural spaces.

Plenty's Past: A Look at History
The Plenty Post Office opened in 1923 and closed in 1979. Before that, an even older post office was open from 1853 to 1864.
Plenty Primary School on Howell Road closed in the 1990s. The Plenty Cricket Club started in 1946 and is still playing today. The Plenty Historical Society was formed in 2001 to learn about the area's past.

Plenty has some great places for sports and nature. You can find the Greensborough Hockey Club here. The Plenty War Memorial Park has sports facilities. It is home to the Diamond Creek Women's Football Club. This club is just for female Australian Rules players. Players range from 7 to 70 years old.

The Plenty River forms the border between Mill Park and Plenty. You can visit "Blue Lake" in the Yellow Gum Recreation Area. It's called Blue Lake because of the beautiful blue color of its water. This area is part of the Plenty Gorge Parklands. It offers many natural and cultural experiences. The Wurundjeri people have visited Plenty Gorge Park for thousands of years. A bushfire happened here in 2019, but the affected areas are now open again.
The Plenty Views Golf Park is also located on Yan Yean Road. Plenty also has a fire station, a general store, and Plenty Hall.
Getting Around: Transport in Plenty
Yan Yean Road is the main road that goes through Plenty. Many people use this road to travel between the city and new areas like Doreen. This used to cause a lot of traffic jams during busy times.
In 2018 and 2019, Yan Yean Road was improved. It changed from a single lane road to a two-lane road. Traffic lights were added at Memorial Drive, River Avenue, and Browns Lane. These changes have made it much easier for people living in Plenty to get around. It has also helped reduce traffic.
Three bus routes run along Yan Yean Road. Since 2010, the SmartBus route 901 connects Plenty to many places. These include Melbourne Airport, Broadmeadows, Epping, and Frankston. The bus stops at the Plenty Store/Plenty Fire Station every 15 minutes. This has greatly improved public transport in the area.
The closest train stations are Diamond Creek or Greensborough. These are on the Hurstbridge line. Another nearby station is South Morang, on the Mernda line.
Sports and Recreation in Plenty
Plenty War Memorial Park is the main sports ground in Plenty. It is the home ground for the Plenty Cricket Club. They play in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association. In winter, the park is used by the Diamond Creek Women's Football Club. They train and play their Australian Rules Football games here.
The Plenty Tennis Club plays its home games at the tennis courts in Plenty Park. The Greensborough Hockey Club plays its games at the Hockey Field in Plenty Park. The Plenty Knights Basketball Club is also based in Plenty. They play in the Diamond Valley Basketball Association.
