Plummer E. Lott (born December 11, 1945) is an American who had two very different careers. He was a professional basketball player and later became a judge. He served as a justice on the New York Supreme Court.
Plummer Lott was born in Mississippi. He played as a small forward in basketball. He was 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 210 pounds. His professional basketball career was short. He played for the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA. This was from 1967 to 1969. Before joining the NBA, he was a star player at Seattle University. The SuperSonics picked him in the fifth round of the 1967 NBA draft.

Becoming a Judge: Plummer Lott's Legal Career
After his time in the NBA, Plummer Lott decided to study law. He went to the University of Washington School of Law. He finished his law degree in 1974.
Working as an Attorney
For several years, Lott worked as a lawyer. He practiced law in New York City. This experience helped him prepare for his future role as a judge.
Becoming a Judge in New York
In 1991, Plummer Lott was appointed as a judge. He started working at the New York City Criminal Court. This court handles cases about crimes.
In 1995, he was elected to a higher court. This was the New York State Supreme Court. From 1996 until early 2009, Judge Lott worked in the Criminal Branch of this court. He was based in Brooklyn. He mainly oversaw serious criminal cases. One notable case he handled involved a person whose story inspired a famous play and a 1994 film called Six Degrees of Separation.
Serving on the Appellate Court
In March 2009, the Governor of New York, David Paterson, gave Lott a new appointment. He became a justice of the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court. This court hears appeals from decisions made in lower courts. He was part of the Second Department, which is also based in Brooklyn.
