The Story of Plymouth
Plymouth was first planned and set up in 1858. This is when people started to build homes and businesses there.
Early Schools
- The very first school class in Plymouth happened in 1862.
- Just two years later, in 1864, the community built its first schoolhouse.
- The old schoolhouse you can see today was built a bit later, in 1882.
Train Station and Post Office
Plymouth was once an important stop for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. This means trains would stop there to pick up and drop off goods.
A post office opened in Plymouth in 1858. It helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. However, the post office closed down in 1930.
