Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World is a 1998 direct-to-video sequel to the 1995 Disney movie Pocahontas. This animated film continues the story of Pocahontas, a brave Native American woman. It is inspired by true events from the life of the real Pocahontas. The story takes place several years after she met John Smith and the first settlers of Jamestown. While the first movie focused on her friendship with John Smith, this movie explores her journey to England and her relationship with the Englishman she married in real life, John Rolfe.

Story of Pocahontas's Journey
The movie begins with news reaching Pocahontas that John Smith has died. Heartbroken, she later meets John Rolfe, an English diplomat. He is sent to bring Pocahontas to England to meet King James. The goal is to show the King that the "savages" of the New World are civilized. This visit is hoped to prevent a war between England and the Powhatan people.
Arriving in England
Pocahontas, along with her animal friends Meeko and Flit, and a strong bodyguard named Utamattami, travels to England with John Rolfe. She is amazed by the busy city of London. However, she quickly learns that England is very different from her home. She struggles to fit in with the strict customs of English society.
Meeting the King
A powerful and dishonest man named Governor Ratcliffe is also in England. He wants to convince King James to send a large fleet of ships to attack the Powhatan people. Ratcliffe sees Pocahontas as a threat to his plans. He tries to make her look bad in front of the King.
Pocahontas must prove to King James that her people are not savages. She attends a royal ball, where she tries to speak for her people. However, Ratcliffe tricks her, making her appear wild and uncivilized. This makes the King angry.
A Surprising Return
Just when things look bad, John Smith suddenly appears! It turns out he was not dead after all. He helps Pocahontas expose Ratcliffe's lies to the King. With Smith's help, Pocahontas finally convinces King James that her people are peaceful. The King then orders Ratcliffe to be arrested.
Choosing a Path
After saving her people from war, Pocahontas faces a choice. She can return to America with John Smith, or stay in England with John Rolfe. She realizes her feelings for Rolfe have grown strong. Pocahontas chooses to marry John Rolfe and start a new life with him in England. The movie ends with them sailing back to America together.

While the movie takes some creative liberties, it captures the spirit of her journey and her efforts to build understanding.
