Pocksha Pond is a beautiful body of water located in southeastern Massachusetts. It is partly in the town of Lakeville and partly in Middleboro. This pond is very important because it helps provide clean drinking water for the city of New Bedford. New Bedford is the largest city in southeastern Massachusetts.
Pocksha Pond shares its waters with Great Quittacas Pond. It is also openly connected with Assawompset Pond. These three lakes work together as a system to supply water.
Animals of Pocksha Pond
Pocksha Pond is home to many interesting animals. If you visit, you might spot some amazing wildlife!
- Bald eagles have built their nests around the lake. These majestic birds are a wonderful sight to see.
- You might also see beavers and otters swimming or playing near the water. Beavers are known for building dams. Otters love to slide and fish.
- In June 2011, something very unusual happened. An American black bear was seen swimming right across the pond! It was a rare sight. This shows how wild and natural the area around Pocksha Pond can be.
