Point Cires is a special place on the northern coast of Morocco. It has a piece of land that sticks out into the sea, called a promontory. It also has two small islands. These islands are located in the Strait of Gibraltar. This is a narrow waterway that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea.
The islands of Point Cires are about 100 meters (330 feet) away from the main coastline. They have a lighthouse to help ships navigate safely. The area is also a good spot for ships to drop anchor and wait. Point Cires is close to a big port called Tanger-Med. This port is in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region of northern Morocco.
Nearby Islands and History
About 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) to the east of Point Cires is Perejil Island. This island is a topic of discussion between Morocco and Spain. Both countries believe the island belongs to them. This kind of situation, where two countries claim the same land, is called a "disputed territory."
