Team Poland: Who Competed?
In January 2018, Poland planned to send ten athletes to the Games. They would compete in four different winter sports. The full list of all team members was shared in February 2018.
Here is a list of some of the athletes who were part of Team Poland for the 2018 Games:
Name | Sport | Gender | Classification | Events | ref |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Katarzyna Rogowiec | para-Nordic skiing | female | |||
Igor Sikorski | para-alpine skiing | male |
It can be challenging for people with disabilities to take part in winter sports. Katarzyna Rogowiec explained why. She said athletes often need more help from others. For example, they might need help putting on their jackets. They may also need help getting into special chairs for their sport. Staying warm can be hard if you do not have hands. Winter sports are also very expensive. This high cost makes it difficult for many people to join in.
Poland's Goals at the Games
Poland did not win any medals at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. However, they did win a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Paralympics. The President of the Polish Paralympic Committee, Łukasz Szeliga, shared Poland's goal. He said they wanted to do better than in 2010 and 2014. Their main aim was to win at least one medal at the 2018 Games.
