Polly Horvath (born January 30, 1957) is a talented author who writes books for children and young adults. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in the United States. Polly has won many important awards for her stories.
In 2003, she won the U.S. National Book Award for Young People's Literature for her book The Canning Season. This is a very big honor for authors. She also received the Vicky Metcalf Award for Literature for Young People in 2010. This award celebrates Canadian children's writers.
About Polly Horvath
Polly Horvath was born on January 30, 1957. Her parents were John Anthony and Betty Ann Horvath. She started writing stories when she was just eight years old.
Polly studied dance at the Canadian College of Dance in Toronto. She also went to the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York City. She lived in New York City and Montreal for a while. Later, she moved to southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
Polly once shared something interesting about her writing. She said that she has the most fun when she is writing the very last page of a book.
Polly is married to Arnold Keller, who is a professor. They have two daughters named Emily Willa and Rebecca Avery Keller.
