It's known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes, but it's not an officially incorporated city or town. In 2010, about 1,195 people lived here. Ponderosa Pine is also part of the larger Albuquerque area.

Ponderosa Pine is located in the southeastern part of Bernalillo County. To its north, you'll find the community of Cedro. To the west, it shares a border with the Cibola National Forest, a large natural area.
Roads and Travel
New Mexico State Road 337 runs right through Ponderosa Pine. This road goes north for about 10 miles (16 km) to Tijeras and Interstate 40. Interstate 40 is a major highway that crosses the United States.
