The Pont De Rennes bridge is a cool bridge in Rochester, New York. It's found in the Brown's Race Historic District, right near the amazing High Falls. This bridge crosses over the Genesee River.
This bridge used to carry cars and trucks as part of Platt Street. But in 1982, it was changed to be just for people walking and riding bikes! This change was part of a plan to make the High Falls area a fun place for entertainment. The bridge was then renamed the Pont De Rennes. It got its new name from Rochester's sister city, Rennes in France.
The Pont De Rennes bridge offers fantastic, clear views of the High Falls. You can also see the beautiful gorge downstream from the falls.
Who Designed the Bridge?
The Pont De Rennes bridge was designed by a famous engineer named Leffert Buck. He was also the person who designed another very well-known bridge, the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City.
