Early Life
Anastasius III was born in the city of Rome. Not much is known about his early life before he became Pope.
His Time as Pope
Anastasius III became Pope in the year 911. During his time as Pope, powerful families in Rome had a lot of influence over the Papacy. One of these was the Theophylact family.
He worked to help develop the dioceses (church districts) in Germany. He was buried in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome after his death in June 913.
