Port San Carlos facts for kids
Port San Carlos is a small, important place located on the western side of East Falkland in the Falkland Islands. It sits on the northern bank of an inlet also called Port San Carlos, which is connected to San Carlos Water. Sometimes, people call it "KC" because its former owner was named Keith Cameron.
The name "Port San Carlos" comes from a ship named San Carlos. This ship visited the area way back in 1768.

Port San Carlos is most famous for its role in the Falklands War in 1982. During this conflict, it was the very first place where British forces landed.

When British forces arrived, they needed a safe place to land their troops and equipment. Port San Carlos was chosen for this important task. The landing area at Port San Carlos was given the secret codename "Green Beach."
This landing was a big part of a larger plan called "Operation Sutton." It was a key moment in the war, allowing British forces to establish a foothold on the islands.
