Port Stephens, Falkland Islands facts for kids
Port Stephens is a small community and a natural harbor located on West Falkland, in the Falkland Islands. It is found in the very southwest part of the island, close to Calm Head and Cape Meredith. The closest other community is South Harbour.
For a long time, Port Stephens was one of the biggest sheep farms owned by the Falkland Island Company. In 1989, the company divided this huge farm into five smaller parts. People who used to work there bought these new farms. Today, the Port Stephens farm is one of these five parts, and it's owned by Peter and Ann Robertson.
Even though the harbor is protected, the area around it often gets hit by strong storms from the Antarctic. It's a very wild and rocky place, but many people think it's one of the most beautiful spots in the Falkland Islands.
