Portas is a charming small town, or municipality, located in the northwest of Spain. It's part of the Pontevedra province within the beautiful region of Galicia. This area is known for its green landscapes and rich history. Portas is also part of a larger area called the Caldas comarca.

A parroquia is like a small district or parish within a municipality. Portas is made up of four of these unique areas. Each one has its own special character and history.

The Romay Fortress
The parroquia of Romay is home to an interesting historical site. It's called the Romay fortress, located in an area known as Tras do Rio. This fortress was once the ancestral home of an important family, the House of Romay. It's a reminder of the long history of this region.
