Portello is a fizzy soft drink that tastes like grapes and berries. It's also sometimes called Portino or Ruby Mello. People often say its rich, fruity taste is similar to port wine or even cola. The drink got its name from port wine. It is thought that Portello first appeared in London, England, back in the 1700s. From there, it spread to many countries that were once part of the British Empire.

Where is Portello Found?

In Australia, people have been making Portello since the late 1800s. Many companies there produce their own versions of this drink. Some of these companies include Kirks, Billson's, and Diet Rite. Today, you can find "Fanta Portello" sold by The Coca-Cola Company in Sri Lanka. There's also a different drink called "Portello" that started in northern Sweden. This Swedish version was created in the 1920s by a company called Malmbergets brewery. It is not related to the original Portello drink.
