History of Post Oak
Post Oak has an interesting history, especially concerning a special mission.
The Post Oak Mission
In 1896, a place called the Post Oak Mission was started in Post Oak. This mission was for the Comanche people. It was created by a group called the Mennonite Brethren Churches of North America. Missions like this often helped people with education, healthcare, and spiritual guidance.
Moving the Mission
Many years later, in 1957, the mission had to move. The area was needed to build a missile range. So, the Post Oak Mission and its cemetery were moved to a new location in Indiahoma, Oklahoma.
The Mission Today
Even after moving, the mission continued its work. Today, it is still active and is known as the Post Oak Mennonite Brethren Church. It continues to serve its community.
