Powers is a British TV show that first came out in 2004 on BBC One. It was created by Jim Eldridge. The show was often described as a kids' version of The X-Files, which is a famous show about strange mysteries. Some people also saw it as a follow-up to another show called The Tomorrow People. Powers had one season with 13 episodes. It was also shown in Australia.
About The Powers Project
The series follows a group of special researchers called The Powers Project. They investigate mysteries that involve things like ghosts, aliens, and other strange events. These are often called paranormal events.
Meet the Team
- Professor Henry Powers (played by Rupert Holliday-Evans) leads the team. He is a smart scientist who tries to understand these strange happenings.
- Mark Roberts (played by Adam Jessop) is a teenager with amazing psychic abilities. He can read minds (this is called telepathy) and move objects with his mind (this is called telekinesis).
- Song-Li Harris (played by Amy Yamazaki) joins the team after the first episode. She is also a teenager with special powers. Song-Li can feel emotions and memories from objects she touches.
- Dr. Mary Holland (played by Mandana Jones) is another important member. She used to have special powers herself, but she doesn't anymore.
How the Show Was Made
Powers took a long time to create, about six years! At one point, the Disney company was interested in helping to make it. But in the end, the BBC made the show all by themselves.
The special effects and computer graphics for Powers were made by a company called Darkside Animation. They used special software to create 170 different scenes with effects. This included the cool opening and closing credits. They also created a UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) for one of the episodes.
The show was first planned to be shown in autumn 2004. But it was moved up and started on January 7, 2004. It was also shown on ABC in Australia.
