Allahabad District, also known as Prayagraj District, is one of the biggest and most important districts in the Uttar Pradesh state of India. The city of Allahabad is its main headquarters.

This district is part of the Allahabad Division. It is split into smaller areas called tehsils, which are then divided into blocks. In 2011, there were 20 blocks across eight tehsils. The Allahabad Division also includes the districts of Fatehpur and Kaushambi.

Geography and Rivers

A very special place in Allahabad District is called Sangam. This is where three important rivers of India meet: the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the mythical river of Sarasvati. This meeting point is considered very holy by people who follow the Hindu religion.

History and Education

Long ago, before India became independent, Allahabad was the capital city of the United Province.
