Princes Quay is a fun shopping centre in the heart of Kingston upon Hull, England. It's special because it's built on stilts right over Prince's Dock! This is how it got its name. The centre first opened its doors in 1991.

Discover Princes Quay Shopping Centre

Princes Quay has huge windows. They give amazing views of the Hull Marina and the dock. This is because of where the centre is built. The mall also has a cool sea theme. Its shopping floors are even called decks! But most people still say 'floors'.

The shopping centre opened on March 15, 1991. It has a big open space in the middle called an atrium. When it first opened, it had three decks with over 80 shops. The lowest deck is called Harbour Deck. It has a Food Court where you can grab a bite to eat.

In 2007, a fourth floor was added. This floor is called Top Deck. It used to have shops, but now it's a 10-screen cinema by Vue. It even had Europe's first digital cinema screen!

Getting to Princes Quay

Princes Quay has a large car park with 1,000 spaces. You can get to it easily from the main A63 if you are driving into the city. Many bus routes stop right outside the centre. Also, Hull Paragon Interchange, a big train and bus station, is only a few minutes' walk away. This makes it easy for everyone to visit.

New Restaurants and Food

In 2011, the food court got a big makeover. It was changed to have several new restaurants. These new places overlook the dock, which is a nice view while you eat. Popular restaurants like Pizza Express and Nandos opened here. They have become very popular. Other big restaurants like Wagamama might open there too. This has made the area around Princes Dock Street much more lively.

Centre Makeover and New Shops

In 2015, plans were announced for a big, multimillion-pound makeover. By 2016, the plans included adding up to 28 new shops. These new shops are on what is called the 'Outlet Deck'. The food court on the ground floor also got a fresh new look. In October 2016, Next was announced as a main new shop for the centre. Work started soon after, and the changes were finished by Easter 2017.

Fun Facts and Events

Since 1991, a cool event has happened every July. It's the Hull International Canoe Polo tournament! It takes place on the water right around the shopping centre. A local group called Kingston Kayak Club organizes this event. One of the local teams, 'Humbersiders', has won the championship three times!
