Zelda's Different Looks
Princess Zelda is known for having many different forms or disguises throughout the Legend of Zelda games. These different looks help her on her adventures or keep her safe from danger.
Sheik: The Mysterious Ninja
In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Princess Zelda uses a special disguise called Sheik. She becomes Sheik seven years in the future to hide from the evil Ganondorf. Sheik looks like a mysterious ninja and is said to be one of the last members of the Sheikah race.
As Sheik, Zelda doesn't fight much. Instead, she helps Link by teaching him important songs and giving him clues. Sheik also appears as a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. fighting games. In some games, Zelda can even transform into Sheik during battles!
Tetra: The Brave Pirate Captain
In The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Princess Zelda appears as a character named Tetra. Tetra is a fearless and sassy female pirate captain. She doesn't know she's a princess at first!
Tetra teams up with Link to save his sister, Aryll. During their adventure, Tetra discovers that she is actually Princess Zelda. Even after learning the truth, she often chooses to keep her pirate identity and continues her adventures on the high seas.
