The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (ゼルダの伝説 夢幻の砂時計, Zeruda no Densetsu Mugen no Sunadokei) is an exciting action-adventure game for the Nintendo DS. It is part of the very popular Legend of Zelda series. This game is special because you play it almost entirely using the touch screen on your Nintendo DS.

The game was first released in Japan on June 23, 2007. It then came out in the United States on October 1, 2007, in Australia on October 11, 2007, and in Europe on October 19, 2007. Later, it was also made available on the Virtual Console for the Wii U.

About the Game

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass continues the story from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. In this game, you play as the main hero of the Zelda series, Link. Your adventure takes place across a huge Ocean, and you get to sail around in a boat.

How to Play

One of the coolest things about Phantom Hourglass is how you control Link and his boat. You use the stylus on the Nintendo DS touch screen for almost everything!

  • You can move Link by drawing a path for him to walk.
  • You can swing your sword by swiping the stylus.
  • When sailing, you draw a path on the map, and your boat will follow it automatically. This makes exploring the ocean very easy and fun.

The Story

The game's story begins right after the events of The Wind Waker. Link and Tetra (who is actually Princess Zelda) are exploring the seas. They encounter a mysterious ghost ship, and Tetra goes to investigate. When she screams, Link tries to save her but falls into the ocean.

Link wakes up on an island and meets a fairy named Ciela. He soon learns that Tetra has been captured by a monster named Bellum. To save her, Link must sail across the Great Sea, find special spirits, and gather enough power to defeat Bellum. He also gets help from a friendly captain named Linebeck and his ship, the S.S. Linebeck.

Online Adventures

Phantom Hourglass also has an online mode. This lets you play against other people using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. In this mode, one player controls Link and tries to collect Force Gems, while the other player controls enemies and tries to stop Link. It's a fun way to challenge your friends!
