Prisad Island is a small, rocky island. It is located off the north coast of Low Island. This area is part of the South Shetland Islands. Prisad Island is about 640 meters (2,100 feet) long. It is also about 520 meters (1,700 feet) wide. A narrow passage, only 60 meters (200 feet) wide, separates it from Limets Peninsula.
Where is Prisad Island?
Prisad Island is found in a very cold place: Antarctica. Its exact location is at 63°13′55″S, 62°10′38″W. This spot is about 1.44 kilometers (0.9 miles) east of Cape Wallace. British explorers mapped this island in 2009.
How it Got its Name
Prisad Island is named after two towns in Bulgaria. These towns are also called Prisad. One is in northeastern Bulgaria, and the other is in southeastern Bulgaria.
