The Pristimantis angustilineatus is a type of frog. It belongs to the Strabomantidae family. This frog lives only in Colombia. You can find it in the Western Andes Mountains. Specifically, it lives in the Chocó, Risaralda, and Valle del Cauca areas. These frogs live high up, between 1,700 and 2,500 meters (about 5,500 to 8,200 feet) above sea level.

The frog's name, angustilineatus, comes from Latin words. Angustus means "narrow" and lineatus means "of a line." This name describes the thin white lines on its back.

What Does It Look Like?

Pristimantis angustilineatus are small frogs. Adult males are about 16 to 20 millimeters (0.6 to 0.8 inches) long. Females are a bit bigger, measuring 21 to 25 millimeters (0.8 to 1 inch) from snout to vent. The frog's head is wider than its body. It is also longer than it is wide.

The skin on its back is smooth. It does not have any folds. The skin on its belly feels bumpy. The frog's body can be yellow or yellowish-green on top. Some frogs have brown spots on their back. A few individuals might even look almost red on top.

A yellow stripe runs along each side of its back. A dark brown or almost black line borders this yellow stripe below. The frog's vocal sac, which helps it make sounds, is pale yellow. The lining inside its body, near the belly, is a shiny white. Its upper eyelid is pale green. The eye's iris is reddish-brown or copper. It has black lines that look like a net.

Where Does It Live and How Is It Protected?

The Pristimantis angustilineatus frog lives in cloud forests. These are special forests where clouds often cover the trees. You can find these frogs on low plants or on plants that grow on other plants, like mosses.

This frog is common in some places. However, its home is shrinking. This is because people are using more land for farming. This loss of habitat is a threat to the frog's survival.
