The Pristimantis boulengeri is a type of frog that belongs to the Strabomantidae family. This small frog is special because it is endemic to Colombia. This means you can only find it living naturally in Colombia and nowhere else in the world!

Where it Lives: Habitats

This unique frog lives in many different places across Colombia. It likes areas that are warm and wet.

Forest Homes

You can find Pristimantis boulengeri in tropical moist montane forests. These are forests on mountainsides where it rains a lot. The frog enjoys the damp environment and the many plants found there.

Human-Made Areas

Interestingly, this frog can also live near people. It has been found in arable land, which is land used for growing crops. It also lives in pastureland, where animals graze, and in plantations, like coffee or banana farms.

The Pristimantis boulengeri can even be seen in rural gardens and urban areas, such as towns and cities. It can adapt to places where forests have been cut down, known as heavily degraded former forest. It also lives in irrigated land, which gets water through pipes or canals, and in agricultural land that floods sometimes. This shows how adaptable this frog species is to different environments!
