Stephen Paul Manderson (born 27 November 1983), who is better known by his stage name Professor Green, is an English rapper, singer, and television star from London. He is also known for his work helping people with their mental health.

Early Life
Stephen Manderson was born in Clapton, a part of London. His mother was very young when he was born, and his parents separated shortly after. He was raised by his grandmother and other family members in a small flat in Hackney, London.
Although he was a smart student who dreamed of becoming a lawyer, he had a difficult time growing up. He left school without getting any qualifications. When he was 24 years old, his father passed away. This was a very sad and difficult event for him. This experience later inspired him to speak out about mental health and help others who are struggling.

How He Got Started
In 2006, Professor Green released his first collection of songs, called a mixtape, titled Lecture #1. In 2008, he won a major rap battle competition on the website Myspace, which earned him a £50,000 prize.
After touring with the famous singer Lily Allen, he was signed to a major record label, Virgin Records. This was the beginning of his journey to becoming a star.
First Big Hits
In 2010, Professor Green released his first album, Alive Till I'm Dead. His first single, "I Need You Tonight," was a huge success. It reached number 3 on the UK music charts.
His next single, "Just Be Good to Green", featured Lily Allen. It became a top 5 hit in the UK and was popular across Europe. The album came out a week later and went to number 2 on the UK album charts. It sold so many copies that it was certified Platinum, which means over 300,000 copies were sold in the UK. Another popular song from the album was "Monster", which featured the rapper Example.
More Successful Albums
Professor Green's second album, At Your Inconvenience, came out in 2011. The first single from this album was "Read All About It", which featured the singer Emeli Sandé. The song was a massive hit and went straight to number 1 on the UK charts. Other singles from the album included "Never Be a Right Time" and "Remedy".
In 2014, he released his third album, Growing Up in Public. The main single from this album was "Lullaby", featuring American singer Tori Kelly. The album also included collaborations with other artists like Rizzle Kicks and Mr Probz.
Recent Music
Professor Green continues to make music. In 2019, he released an EP (a short album) called Matters of the Heart. He has also released other songs, like "Bad Decisions" in 2020. In 2021, he signed a deal with the record label Cooking Vinyl.
