Early Life and Career
Prudenci Bertrana studied in Girona when he was young. Later, he moved to Barcelona to study industrial engineering. He also worked as a journalist and helped manage magazines like L'Esquella de la Torratxa and La Campana de Gràcia. He taught art too. Bertrana wrote for many newspapers, including El Poble Català, La Publicitat, and La Veu de Catalunya.
His Unique Writing Style
Bertrana's writing style was very special and different from other writers of his time. He became well-known for his novel Josafat, which he published in 1906. This was the first book he wrote. He also wrote a collection of short stories called Proses bàrbares (which means Barbarous Prose) in 1911.
Themes in His Works
He started publishing his first stories in 1903. Many people thought these early stories were excellent. His works, especially his short stories, often focused on three main things:
Bertrana's novels were carefully written, showing a lot of detail about the world. He often based his stories on his own life experiences.
The "Between the Earth and the Clouds" Trilogy
One of his most famous works is a series of three novels called Entre la terra i els núvols (Between the Earth and the Clouds). This series includes:

Awards and Later Life
In 1933, Prudenci Bertrana won the important Fastenrath Award for his play El Comiat de Teresa (Teresa's Farewell), which he wrote in 1932.
He passed away in 1941 in Barcelona. His daughter, Aurora Bertrana, also became a writer. She wrote many memories about her father, sharing a lot about his life and their family.
