Tordera is a city in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of a region called a comarca named Maresme. Tordera is located in the province of Barcelona.
The city is about 64 kilometers (40 miles) from Barcelona and 36 kilometers (22 miles) from Girona. It sits near the edge of the beautiful Montnegre natural park. In 2018, about 16,937 people lived in Tordera.

What is Tordera's Economy Like?
Tordera's economy has changed over time. It used to focus mainly on agriculture, which means farming. A big part of this was making products from cork.
Now, the economy has grown to include other things. People in Tordera also work in making textiles (like fabric and clothes) and in construction, which means building things. The Tordera River flows right through the town.
What Historical Places Can You Visit?
In the center of Tordera, you can find the Romanesque church of Saint Stephen. Romanesque is a style of building that was popular a long time ago.
Part of the church's altar is very old and original. However, the rest of the building has been updated and repaired over many years. Most of the church you see today was renovated in the 1500s and 1700s.
Hiking and Exploring Tordera
Tordera is a great spot for hikers! The GR 92 is a very long walking path that goes along the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Tordera is one of the places where you can start or stop on this path.
If you walk north from Tordera, Stage 12 of the path leads to Lloret de Mar. This part of the trail is about 17.2 kilometers (10.7 miles) long. If you head south, Stage 13 takes you to Hortsavinyà, which is about 12.8 kilometers (7.9 miles) away.
